Former senator Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello has suspended her Ogun governorship ambition after Solomon Olamilekan Adeola emerged as the APC consensus candidate for the 2027 election.
She made the announcement following an APC caucus meeting in Abeokuta, where Solomon Olamilekan Adeola was formally presented as the party’s consensus candidate, the Daily Independent reported.
In a statement, she congratulated Adeola on his emergence and expressed appreciation to party leaders at both state and national levels for the opportunity to participate in the selection process.
“Based on these developments, I have decided to suspend my gubernatorial aspiration,” she stated.
She thanked her supporters across Ogun State for their calm, steadfast support and unwavering trust.
She urged her political base to remain committed and optimistic, noting that the journey continues with patience, strength and hope.
Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun announced Adeola’s emergence as consensus candidate at a caucus meeting attended by former governors Olusegun Osoba, Gbenga Daniel and Ibikunle Amosun.
