Zenith Bank Plc has marked the 2026 World Environment Day with a two-phase environmental clean-up initiative in Lagos State, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices.
The exercise, held under the global theme, “Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future,” featured a community clean-up in Victoria Island and a waterways sanitation campaign in Ikoyi.
The first phase took place on June 3, 2026, with Zenith Bank employees participating in a clean-up exercise across Victoria Island. Staff members cleared waste and engaged residents on proper waste disposal, demonstrating the bank’s commitment to environmental stewardship and community service.
The second phase was held on June 4 at the Falomo Waterways in Ikoyi, where Zenith Bank partnered with the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) and the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) to remove marine debris and promote cleaner waterways.
Speaking on the initiative, the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Bank Plc, Dr. Adaora Umeoji, said environmental sustainability remains a core part of the bank’s operations. She noted that the clean-up exercises reflect the institution’s commitment to protecting communities, supporting climate action, and encouraging collective responsibility for environmental preservation.
