Liverpool have beaten off competition from Newcastle United and several top European clubs to secure the signing of Spanish forward Victor Munoz from Osasuna in a deal worth a reported £34.5 million ($45.5 million).
The 22-year-old completed his medical at Spain’s World Cup training base in Tennessee and has agreed to a six-year contract with the Premier League giants, becoming the first signing under new Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola.
Confirming the move, Liverpool said the transfer remains subject to a successful work permit application and international clearance.
Munoz had been heavily linked with Newcastle, who moved for the winger after selling Anthony Gordon to Barcelona. Manchester United and Bayer Leverkusen were also credited with interest, but Liverpool ultimately won the race by activating the release clause in his Osasuna contract.
The Spanish attacker enjoyed an impressive campaign last season, scoring seven goals and providing five assists in 36 appearances. His versatility across both wings is expected to help Liverpool fill the void left by Mohamed Salah’s departure this summer.
Munoz’s rise has been remarkable. A product of Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, he later joined Real Madrid but made only two senior appearances before moving to Osasuna in July 2025, where he quickly established himself as one of Spain’s most promising young forwards.
The winger has already earned two caps for Spain after making his international debut in March and is expected to join his new Liverpool teammates once his World Cup commitments are concluded.
Liverpool’s summer rebuild is also gathering pace, with the club reportedly monitoring teenage Ivory Coast forward Yan Diomande of Leipzig. French defender Jeremy Jacquet has already agreed a move from Rennes in a deal finalised earlier this year.
For Liverpool fans, the arrival of Munoz signals the beginning of a new era under Iraola, with the club moving swiftly to reinforce its attack and maintain its place among Europe’s elite.
