UBA Business Series to feature M.I Abaga, Chowdeck CEO, Egunjobi on innovation, African startups

Africa’s Global Bank, United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, is set to host the latest edition of its quarterly UBA Business Series, with a focus on how businesses can transform customer feedback into technology-driven solutions that address Africa’s unique challenges.

Scheduled for Thursday, July 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. (WAT), the event is themed “Building for Africa’s Realities: Turning Consumer Feedback into Technology-Driven Solutions.” It will bring together founders, investors and business leaders to discuss how to develop products tailored to African markets rather than relying on imported solutions.

The event will be streamed live across UBA’s digital platforms, including its YouTube channel, allowing participants from across the continent to join the conversation virtually.

The session will feature rapper and entrepreneur M.I Abaga, venture capitalist and co-founder of Octerra Capital, Ashim Egunjobi, and co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Chowdeck, Femi Aluko. The discussion will be moderated by media entrepreneur and founder, Adaora Mbelu.

The panelists are expected to share insights from their entrepreneurial journeys, discuss building technology-driven consumer platforms, supporting startups, and using customer feedback to develop products that meet the needs of African consumers.

Speaking ahead of the event, UBA’s Group Head, Brands, Marketing and Corporate Communications, Alero Ladipo, said the programme reflects the bank’s commitment to supporting entrepreneurs and businesses driving Africa’s economic growth.

“The best African businesses are not guessing what their customers want; they are listening, adapting and building accordingly,” Ladipo said.

She added that the UBA Business Series aims to equip entrepreneurs with practical knowledge while creating a platform for meaningful conversations around product development, technology and business growth.

The quarterly UBA Business Series has evolved into a leading knowledge-sharing platform that provides entrepreneurs, professionals and business leaders with the insights, tools and strategies needed to build sustainable businesses and thrive in a rapidly changing business environment.

With more than 25,000 employees and over 45 million customers worldwide, UBA is one of Africa’s largest financial institutions. The bank operates in 20 African countries, as well as the United Kingdom, the United States, France and the United Arab Emirates, providing retail, commercial and institutional banking services while promoting financial inclusion through innovative technology.
