Bayern Munich forward Michael Olise has reportedly informed his France teammates of his desire to leave the Bundesliga champions and join Spanish giants Real Madrid next season.
According to French newspaper L’Équipe, the 24-year-old revealed his intention during the FIFA World Cup, with Real Madrid said to be aware of his interest and expected to open discussions after the tournament despite Bayern Munich’s determination to keep him.
Olise, who is under contract with Bayern until 2029, is reportedly keen to take the next step in his career by securing a move to the Santiago Bernabéu.
The report added that France and Bayern defender Dayot Upamecano has tried to convince Olise to remain in Munich.
Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer recently dismissed reports linking the winger with a move to the Spanish club.
“Florentino Pérez can save himself the trouble of making an offer for Olise; we do not want to sell,” Hainer said.
Olise joined Bayern Munich from Crystal Palace and has quickly become one of the club’s key attacking players.
The report also claimed that Olise’s potential arrival at Real Madrid could affect the club’s current squad, with speculation surrounding the futures of Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior. It suggested that reports of Bellingham’s strained relationship with Kylian Mbappé and Vinicius’ unresolved contract negotiations have fuelled transfer speculation, although neither claim has been confirmed by the players or their clubs.
Real Madrid have yet to comment publicly on the reported interest in Olise.
