France coach Didier Deschamps has included his team among seven nations he believes have a shot at winning the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which kicks off in June next year. France will compete in Group I alongside Senegal and Norway.
Deschamps’ team were runners-up at the previous World Cup in Qatar, falling to Argentina in the final.
Speaking to Olé, Deschamps said, “Messi and Ronaldo deserve to be at next year’s World Cup. They are two players who have marked international football for more than 15 years; without a doubt, it is something special for them.”.
“There is no rematch in football. Argentina won the 2022 World Cup, and that’s in the past.
“This is a new tournament, and we will aim to go as far as possible. France can definitely be a contender,” Deschamps said.
