A 19-year-old suspected serial motorcycle robber, Ayomide Oyediran, has been arrested by the Ondo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun) in Ajue, Odigbo Local Government Area, after reportedly fleeing from his home state of Kwara where he had been on the wanted list.

According to the Amotekun Corps, Oyediran was tracked and arrested during the ongoing ember border security patrol tagged Operation Le Won Jade.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Jimoh Adeniken, stated that after allegedly attacking a commercial motorcycle rider with a sledgehammer and fleeing with the victim’s bike in Kwara State, investigation revealed that the suspect remained in Ajue for some time before attempting to return to his hometown.

Adeniken, who disclosed that the suspect has been handed over to the Kwara State Local Government Security Initiative for continued investigation and possible prosecution, stated that “he believed the rider may have died from the attack. However, security personnel in Ajuwe community, who had been on alert, eventually apprehended him.”

While confessing to committing the crime at the corps headquarters in Akure, the state capital, the suspect revealed that he had intended to use the motorcycle for commercial transportation in Ore.

“I told the Okada rider to take me from Omu-Aran in Kwara State to a farm settlement. When we arrived, I pretended to make a phone call to distract him, then struck him on the head with a sledgehammer. He abandoned the motorcycle and fled,” the suspect recounted.
