The Kano State Fire Service recorded 20 fire incidents and responded to 13 emergency rescue calls across the state in July 2026, with 10 people losing their lives in various incidents.
The figures were contained in a statement released on Saturday and signed by the Fire Service Public Relations Officer, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi.
According to the report, the Service also responded to five false alarms during the month.
The incidents resulted in the deaths of 10 people, while six others were successfully rescued from different emergency situations.
The Fire Service said the fires destroyed property estimated at N9.381 million, while firefighters were able to save property worth approximately N37.524 million.
The figures highlight the human and economic cost of fire emergencies across the state, even as the response of firefighters helped prevent further losses.
The Director of the Kano State Fire Service, Alhaji Sani Anas, urged residents to exercise greater caution when handling fire and ensure that all sources of fire are completely extinguished after use.
Anas warned that leaving fires unattended or failing to extinguish them properly could trigger avoidable outbreaks, resulting in the loss of lives and property.
He also appealed to parents and guardians to closely monitor their children, particularly around water bodies and other hazardous areas.
The Fire Service director advised parents to prevent children from playing near puddles, ponds, rivers and uncovered wells in order to reduce the risk of drowning and other emergencies.
The Kano State Fire Service urged residents to remain vigilant and take basic safety precautions, stressing that early prevention remains critical to protecting lives and property.
