Nigeria’s Super Eagles successfully retained their Unity Cup crown with an impressive 3-0 victory over Jamaica in the final at the Valley Stadium in London on Saturday.
A brace from Alhassan Yusuf and a goal from Terem Moffi inspired the largely experimental Nigerian side to victory before a sizeable crowd, despite the match taking place on the same day as the UEFA Champions League final.
The triumph saw Nigeria secure a fourth Unity Cup title, adding to their previous successes in 2002, 2004 and the revived 2025 edition, when they defeated Jamaica on penalties in the final.
Head coach Eric Chelle made just one change to the starting XI that recorded a 2-0 win over Zimbabwe in the semi-final earlier in the week.
The Super Eagles got off to a flying start, taking the lead in the third minute through Yusuf. The midfielder reacted quickest at the far post to finish after the Jamaican goalkeeper failed to properly clear a header inside the penalty area.
Nigeria doubled their advantage shortly after the break. Femi Azeez, who scored twice in the semi-final, made a brilliant run to the byline before sending a lofted cross across goal, which Moffi headed into an empty net.
Yusuf then completed his brace with the standout goal of the night. Following a swift counterattack initiated by Philip Otele, he collected the ball on the edge of the area and curled a superb effort into the bottom-left corner to seal an emphatic victory and another Unity Cup triumph for the Super Eagles.
