As part of activities to commemorate World Food Safety Day, MAGGI has strengthened stakeholder engagement across its value chain through a series of immersive experiences aimed at deepening understanding of food quality, safety, and the journey of its products from farm to table.
The initiative brought together suppliers, distributors, consumers, journalists, and digital content creators, providing firsthand insight into the processes, partnerships, and standards that support the production of MAGGI products consumed in millions of Nigerian homes. The programme reinforced the brand’s commitment to transparency, collaboration, and continuous stakeholder engagement.
Suppliers participated in sessions focused on MAGGI’s quality requirements and manufacturing standards, while distributors were engaged on best practices in product handling, storage, and warehousing to help preserve product quality throughout the distribution chain. Consumers also interacted with experts, gaining deeper knowledge of ingredients, production processes, and the expertise behind MAGGI products.
The engagement culminated in a tour of Nestlé Nigeria’s Agbara Factory, where journalists and digital content creators followed the journey of a MAGGI cube from locally sourced soya beans to the finished product. Participants observed how raw materials sourced from Nigerian farmers are transformed through carefully controlled fermentation processes and advanced manufacturing technologies to deliver the taste, quality, and consistency associated with the MAGGI brand.
The factory experience also highlighted the link between traditional African food preparation methods and modern manufacturing practices. Participants learned how fermentation techniques used in MAGGI production draw inspiration from indigenous seasoning traditions such as iru, dawadawa, and ogiri, which remain familiar across many Nigerian communities.
A key highlight of the programme was the opportunity to witness the extensive quality assurance and food safety systems embedded at every stage of production. From ingredient sourcing and testing to manufacturing, packaging, and distribution, participants observed the rigorous standards, continuous monitoring, and scientific expertise that help ensure product quality and food safety.
Speaking during the event, Category Manager, Culinary, Nestlé Nigeria, Funmi Osineye, said MAGGI’s extensive value chain involves farmers, suppliers, distributors, retailers, consumers, and several other stakeholders, making quality and food safety a collective responsibility.
She noted that the company remains committed to continuous stakeholder engagement to strengthen collaboration, enhance understanding, and provide greater visibility into the processes behind MAGGI products.
Also speaking, Factory Manager of Nestlé Nigeria’s Agbara Factory, Talla Fall, said quality and food safety remain central to every stage of the company’s operations, from sourcing and testing raw materials to manufacturing and packaging. He added that the engagement offered stakeholders a unique opportunity to see the expertise and rigorous processes behind every MAGGI product.
The programme also featured an interactive cooking session where participants experienced the practical use of MAGGI products in everyday meal preparation. The session encouraged discussions on taste, quality, nutrition, and responsible product use while bringing the food safety conversation to life.
Through the initiative, MAGGI reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, stakeholder confidence, and the delivery of quality products that support consumers in preparing tasty and nutritious meals every day.
