The Supreme Court of Nigeria has directed all legal practitioners handling cases scheduled for hearing between September and December 2026 to upload all relevant court processes through the Nigerian Case Management System (NCMS).
The directive, issued by the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Kabir Eniola Akanbi, is in line with Rule 10(1) of the Supreme Court Practice Direction, 2026, which mandates the digital filing of court documents.
In a statement released on Tuesday in Abuja, Akanbi outlined the procedures lawyers must follow to access the list of appeals and motions fixed for hearing and ensure their cases are properly processed through the electronic platform.
He said counsel are required to upload all relevant filed documents relating to their matters, including the record of appeal, briefs of argument, pending motions, and every other filed process not later than 30 days before the scheduled hearing date, as stipulated by the Practice Direction.
The Chief Registrar urged lawyers to comply strictly with the directive, noting that the move is aimed at ensuring the seamless operation of the Nigerian Case Management System, improving efficiency, and supporting the timely determination of cases before the apex court.
