FIFA has appointed Slovenian referee Slavko Vinčić to officiate the 2026 FIFA World Cup final between Argentina and Spain at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Vinčić will be assisted by Tomaž Klančnik and Andraž Kovačič, while Adham Makhadmeh of Jordan will serve as the fourth official for the highly anticipated final.
The World Cup final will be Vinčić’s fourth assignment at the 2026 tournament, having previously handled two group-stage matches and a knockout fixture.
The experienced Slovenian referee officiated the group-stage games between Brazil and Morocco and Jordan and Algeria, before taking charge of the Round of 32 encounter between Mexico and Ecuador.
During the knockout match, Vinčić sent off Ecuador defender Piero Hincapié under FIFA’s anti-discrimination protocol, widely referred to as the “Vinícius Law.”
His appointment to the tournament’s showpiece final reflects FIFA’s confidence in his experience and performances throughout the competition as Argentina and Spain prepare to battle for the 2026 World Cup title.
