Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy and Colombian pop icon Shakira have reunited ahead of their performance at the first-ever FIFA World Cup final halftime show.
Burna Boy shared a video on his X account on Friday showing the pair embracing and chatting during rehearsals for Sunday’s show at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, United States.
Captioning the post, the Grammy Award-winning singer wrote: “Sunday Prep! @shakira See you at the @FIFAWorldCup Final! Dai Dai, ikó, dale, allez, let’s go!”
The video, accompanied by photos, captured the two global stars sharing laughs and a warm embrace outside the production trailers at the venue.
FIFA had earlier confirmed that Burna Boy and Shakira would perform “Dai Dai,” the official song of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, during the tournament’s inaugural Super Bowl-style halftime show.
The performance is expected to take place during an extended halftime break. While a traditional World Cup halftime lasts 15 minutes, organisers are reportedly preparing a 30-minute interval, combining the usual match analysis with an 11-minute entertainment spectacle.
FIFA also announced a star-studded lineup for the historic show, featuring BTS, Madonna, Justin Bieber, renowned conductor Gustavo Dudamel, the PS22 Chorus with Coldplay, as well as appearances by characters from Sesame Street and The Muppets.
Beyond the entertainment, the halftime show is expected to promote global education initiatives for children.
Sunday’s FIFA World Cup final will see defending champions Argentina take on Spain in a blockbuster clash for football’s biggest prize.
Burna Boy and Shakira previously performed “Dai Dai” at the tournament’s opening ceremony in Mexico City, where the song was officially unveiled as the official anthem of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
