Former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has confirmed he is ready to return to the dugout, revealing that he is prepared to become Germany’s next head coach following Julian Nagelsmann’s departure.
Nagelsmann stepped down after Germany’s disappointing campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, prompting the German Football Association to begin the search for a new manager.
Speaking in New York while working as a pundit for Magenta TV, Klopp disclosed that he has been approached as part of the federation’s succession plans and is now ready to make a managerial comeback.
“Julian has stepped down and the federation is working on the succession and has approached me in the course of those considerations,” Klopp said.
Reflecting on his decision to leave Liverpool two years ago, the 59-year-old explained that he needed time away from football to recover from the demands of management.
“About two years ago I stopped at Liverpool and said that I lacked the energy for another job or for another year with Liverpool.
“Since then, I’m more than recharged. I’m ready,” Klopp added.
Klopp’s remarks have intensified expectations that the former Liverpool boss could soon take charge of the German national team as preparations begin for the next international cycle.
