The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has strongly denounced the killings in Jos’ Anguwan Rukuba area, which claimed about 27 lives and left several others injured.

The National Secretary, Bishop David Bakare in a statement on Wednesday said, “It is with deep sorrow and grave concern that we condemn in the strongest possible terms the horrific killings that occurred on Sunday at about 7:30pm in the Anguwan Rukuba area of Jos city, where no fewer than 27 innocent lives were said to have been brutally cut short and many others left injured.

“This senseless act of violence is not only a tragedy for the affected families and the people of Plateau State, but also a painful reminder of the fragile peace that must be protected at all costs.”

He added that the renewed bloodshed on the Plateau is unacceptable and must be brought to an immediate halt.

Bakare confirmed that , “Plateau state has endured dark and painful chapters in the past, and it must not be allowed to slide back into those days of fear, division, and unchecked violence.”

In addition ,he affirmzd that the sanctity of human life must remain paramount, and no grievance, real or perceived, can justify such barbarity.

However  ,the statement called on security agencies to act swiftly and decisively to fish out the perpetrators of the “heinous crime” and ensure they are brought to justice.

According to Bakare, “The audacity of these attackers to strike within the city is a serious concern that must not be ignored.

“It demands a firm, coordinated, and sustained response to restore confidence in public safety.”

He called community leaders, stakeholders, and residents to remain vigilant, cooperate with law enforcement, and resist any attempt to inflame tensions or provoke reprisals, saying that now, more than ever, unity and restraint are essential.

He highlighted that the courage displayed by those who seek to terrorise peaceful communities must be met with equal resolve, pointing out that the menace must be resisted with every legitimate means until peace, security, and justice prevail.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, and all those affected by this tragedy.

Therefore ,the statement outline that “we stand in solidarity with them in this moment of grief and reaffirm our collective commitment to ensuring that such acts of violence have no place in our society,”.
