Kizz Daniel Breaks Silence on Music Break After Mother’s Death

Nigerian Afrobeats star Oluwatobiloba Anidugbe, popularly known as Kizz Daniel, has revealed that the break he took from music earlier this year was caused by the death of his mother, rather than preparations for a new album.

The singer, also known as Vado D’Great, made the disclosure on Friday while responding to a fan on X who assumed that he had been away from the music scene because he was working on an album.

The fan, @VicroyDominion1, wrote, “I guess album really made you busy you had to pause for a while.”

Kizz Daniel responded: “I paused for my Mom not an album … Lost her this year, but I gotta keep moving for the rest of the family … sorry I came late this year.”

His response drew an emotional reaction from fans, many of whom expressed condolences and prayed for his late mother and family.

One fan, @Segunthomas9, wrote, “May her soul rest in peace, mother’s love is the best.”

Another user, @30bgsoldier8643, said, “Sorry brother accept my condolences brother be strong i really missed your sound.”

“Damn, that must be tough. May her soul rest in peace,” @rhidozi_ wrote.

Another fan, @mynameisnottobi, shared a personal message, saying the loss made her reflect on her own fear of losing her mother.

Other fans also expressed sympathy and offered prayers for strength and comfort.

Kizz Daniel, known for hit songs including “Woju” and “Buga,” has previously spoken about personal losses in his life.

The singer lost his father in 2015 and, in 2021, lost one of his triplets.

In a 2025 interview, Kizz Daniel also disclosed that his wife lost her mother in 2024 while discussing the personal experiences and losses that influenced his song, “Al-Jannah.”

Despite the difficult period, Kizz Daniel said he has chosen to keep moving forward for the rest of his family, explaining why he was absent from the music scene and returned later than expected this year.
