President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said Nigeria is earning greater global recognition as a result of his administration’s economic reforms, assuring Nigerians that the benefits of the policies will become more visible in the coming months.
The President made the remarks on Thursday while receiving a delegation of the Aseyori Tinubu research group, led by Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Jimoh Ibrahim, at the State House in Abuja.
Tinubu said the growing interest of multinational companies in investing and partnering with Nigeria reflects the country’s improving economic outlook and the collective efforts of Nigerians supporting the administration’s reform agenda.
He commended Ambassador Ibrahim for his performance at the United Nations, describing his contributions as impressive and encouraging him to remain focused on his assignment.
“Your capacity is exceedingly reliable, and your performance at the United Nations is very impressive. You have achieved a lot at the UN within a short period, and I am very proud of that,” the President said.
He also urged the ambassador to intensify efforts toward securing a permanent seat for Nigeria on the United Nations Security Council.
Speaking on the economy, Tinubu expressed confidence that Nigeria has moved beyond its most difficult economic period.
“I could say the economy of our nation has passed the darkest tunnel. We will continue to push for improvement. The economic recovery is here. We are running a very stable economy right now,” he said.
The President also highlighted some of his administration’s achievements, including increased funding for the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) through recovered assets by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
According to him, the government is focused on stimulating economic growth, improving security and ensuring uninterrupted academic activities in public universities.
“Today, our children are in school. The security is getting better, not getting worse,” Tinubu added.
He encouraged the research group to continue providing ideas and policy recommendations that would strengthen Nigeria politically and economically.
In his remarks, Ambassador Jimoh Ibrahim praised Tinubu’s leadership, saying the administration’s economic reforms have improved Nigeria’s image globally and attracted increased interest from foreign investors across various sectors.
He also attributed his achievements at the United Nations to the support received from the President and reaffirmed his commitment to advancing Nigeria’s campaign for a seat on the UN Security Council.
