NOA Urges Movie Producers to Highlight Nigerian Values and Culture in Films

 

 

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has urged the Association of Movie Producers (AMP) to use films as a key platform for promoting Nigerian values, showcasing the nation’s rich cultural heritage, strengthening national identity, and enhancing the country’s image internationally.

While receiving a delegation from the FCT Chapter of AMP, NOA Director-General Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu emphasized that the creative industry is crucial in shaping public perception, influencing societal behavior, and promoting national unity. He highlighted that films have the power to inspire, educate, and reshape narratives, making them a strategic tool for value reorientation and national development.

He added that the NOA is set to collaborate with major players in the film industry to integrate its core messages into movie productions, citing the nationalization of cartoon content which was earlier approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC), as one of the avenues to pursue achieve the agenda.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the FCT Chapter of the Association of Movie Producers (AMP), Mr Desmond Utomwen, commended the National Orientation Agency (NOA) for its unwavering commitment to value re-orientation, noting that the Agency’s messages continue to resonate both nationally and internationally.

He highlighted AMP’s interest in partnering with NOA through purposeful storytelling, co-productions, and film-driven sensitization campaigns aimed at positively influencing public behaviour and enhancing national perception.

The engagement concluded with the DG of NOA presenting a souvenir outlining the core values enshrined in the National Values Charter, which had previously been approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
