Senegal displays AFCON trophy before Peru friendly despite CAF ruling

On Saturday, Team Senegal displayed the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) trophy ahead of their friendly against Peru, despite being stripped of the title.

However, the Teranga Lions originally won the AFCON final against Morocco in January.

In addition 57 days later, CAF disclosed  that its appeal board had declared the Atlas Lions 3-0 winners instead.

Therefore, a day after that decision was publicised, Senegal confirmed they would appeal the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, CAS.

Team Senegal have also apparently refused to return the trophy to CAF.

Moreover ,in an act of resistance, not only did they parade the trophy in Paris, they also added a second star to their kit, as they consider themselves the rightful champions.
