President Bola Tinubu has clarified the leadership structure of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across the states, identifying state governors as the party’s leaders in their respective domains.
The president made this known while speaking at the official reception organised for Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, in Jalingo, where he stated that the APC is led at the state level by sitting governors across the federation.
Represented at the event by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Tinubu explained that Governor Kefas automatically assumes the position of APC leader in Taraba State following his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling party.
The president reiterated his determination to support the governor and his cabinet to bring development to Taraba State.
According to him, the governor has been making efforts to unite the state and harmonise its diversity to achieve unity.
He urged party members and residents of Taraba State to unite behind the governor and give him the needed support to succeed, adding that he was pleased with the defection of a governor from the North-East geopolitical zone and expressing hope that Adamawa and Bauchi would also align with the party at the centre.
