Tinubu Returns From Abu Dhabi, Seals Economic Partnership With UAE

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Nigeria after attending the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW2026) in the United Arab Emirates, where he was accompanied by key members of his cabinet.

At the high-level summit, Nigeria formalised a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with the UAE, marking a significant step toward strengthening economic relations between the two nations.

The pact is designed to boost bilateral trade and investment, promote technology transfer, and expand collaboration across strategic sectors including energy, infrastructure, agriculture, mining and renewable energy.

Speaking at the summit, President Tinubu announced that Nigeria and the UAE will jointly host an INVESTOPIA forum in Lagos in February.

The initiative is designed to attract global investors and showcase Nigeria’s investment opportunities.

The President also reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to climate action, disclosing that the country plans to mobilise up to 30 billion dollars annually in climate and green industrial financing.

He said the funds would support Nigeria’s ongoing energy transition reforms and efforts to expand electricity access nationwide.

Nigeria’s participation at ADSW2026 underscores the administration’s emphasis on sustainable development, attracting foreign investment and deepening international economic partnerships.

The President has since returned to the country after concluding his official engagements in Abu Dhabi.
