President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering standard, first-class infrastructure across Nigeria, describing infrastructure development as a key pillar of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The President made the remarks in Abuja during the official flag-off of the access road from Tungan Madaki to the Abuja-Kaduna Road near Zuba in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Represented by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, Tinubu said infrastructure goes beyond roads and bridges, stressing that it is essential to national development and economic growth.
“Infrastructure is not just concrete and asphalt; it is the bridge between potential and prosperity, and that is the core of the Renewed Hope Agenda,” he said.
Tinubu explained that the project extends the recently commissioned Bill Clinton Drive–Tungan Madaki road, unveiled as part of activities marking the third anniversary of his administration.
“What began as one road is now growing into a network, and that is how real development takes root,” he said.
The President noted that Tungan Madaki, Zuba and neighbouring communities are home to hardworking Nigerians, including farmers, traders, students and families who rely on improved road access for their daily activities.
He recalled that poor road infrastructure had long hindered movement in the area, especially during the rainy season, leading to delays, post-harvest losses and higher transportation costs.
According to him, the new road will provide a direct link between Tungan Madaki and the Abuja-Kaduna Road, reducing travel time, lowering vehicle maintenance costs and improving the movement of people and goods.
“When farmlands are opened, food becomes cheaper in our markets. When communities are connected, young people have more reason to build enterprises at home. When response time for security agencies improves, our people are safer. Infrastructure is not just concrete and asphalt. It is the bridge between potential and prosperity,” he said.
Tinubu added that the project would strengthen connectivity between satellite communities and the FCT city centre while boosting economic activities along the Abuja-Kaduna corridor and the wider North-West region.
He said the improved infrastructure would also encourage investment in housing, education, healthcare and industries within the axis.
The President commended the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and the FCT Administration for the pace and quality of project delivery.
“We are seeing a return to planning, a rejection of abandoned projects, and a focus on results that citizens can feel,” he said.
Tinubu stated that his directive to transform the FCT was centred on delivering projects that improve the daily lives of residents.
He also noted that the road project would create employment opportunities for young Nigerians during construction while supporting long-term livelihoods in transportation, commerce and related services after completion.
