The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested 33 suspected criminals over alleged offences ranging from armed robbery to drug-related crimes and other forms of criminal activity.
According to the command, the suspects were apprehended during coordinated raids on locations identified as hideouts for young criminal gangs popularly known as Shila Boys.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, said the operation was carried out on Saturday, June 27, by a joint team of Divisional Police Officers.
He said the raids targeted several crime-prone areas, including Bamgel Mafias Quarters, Yolde Pate Junction/New Road, behind LCCN Church, Shagari Phase II, Sabon Fegi, Unguwan Burauba, Mbamoi, Hayin Gada, Anguwan Tsamiya, Anguwan Fulani, Sokoto Street and Yola Market in Yola South and Girei local government areas.
Nguroje said the operation led to the arrest of 33 young men suspected of involvement in various criminal activities.
“The suspects are currently undergoing screening and profiling. Those found culpable will be charged to court in accordance with the law, while investigations continue to determine their involvement in other criminal activities,” he said.
The police spokesperson added that officers recovered several exhibits during the operation, including a cutlass, a knife, 10 razor blades, suspected banned substances and dry leaves believed to be Indian hemp.
