Championship club Coventry City have reached an agreement with Nottingham Forest to sign Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi on a permanent transfer.
Awoniyi is now undergoing his medical as he closes in on completing the move to Frank Lampard’s Coventry City, with the club looking to strengthen its attacking options.
The Nigeria international brings considerable Premier League experience to Coventry after spending the past few seasons with Nottingham Forest.
Awoniyi joined Forest from German club Union Berlin in 2022 and has featured prominently for the Premier League side during his time at the City Ground.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the agreement in a post on X on Saturday, stating that the two clubs had reached an agreement for a permanent move and that Awoniyi’s medical was already ongoing.
The 27-year-old forward is expected to add pace, physicality and top-flight experience to Lampard’s squad as Coventry City prepare for the challenges ahead.
The transfer will be completed once Awoniyi successfully passes his medical and final formalities are concluded.
