Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) staged another dramatic late comeback to rescue a 2-2 draw with Lille, scoring twice in injury time to avoid defeat and extend their winless start to the Ligue 1 season.
Lille looked set to claim a second consecutive victory under manager Davide Ancelotti after building a 2-0 lead, with veteran striker Olivier Giroud involved in both goals.
The 39-year-old former France international first picked out Hakon Haraldsson, who fired home from 20 yards to give Lille the lead.
Lille appeared to have secured the victory in the 84th minute when Dilane Bakwa, making his debut following his loan move from Nottingham Forest, curled a fine effort into the net.
But PSG launched a stunning late fightback.
Vitinha reduced the deficit in the 91st minute with a superb strike into the top corner before producing another decisive moment four minutes later.
The Portuguese midfielder delivered a cross for Marquinhos, who headed home the equaliser to complete PSG’s dramatic rescue.
It was the second consecutive Ligue 1 match in which PSG have recovered from two goals down. Last weekend, they also battled back from 2-0 behind to draw with Rennes.
The result leaves PSG still searching for their first domestic victory of the season after two Ligue 1 matches. They also lost 1-0 to Lens in the Trophée des Champions, although they beat Aston Villa 2-1 in the UEFA Super Cup.
Despite showing remarkable resilience, PSG’s slow starts and failure to turn comebacks into victories will be a concern as they continue their Ligue 1 title defence.
