2027: NDC Dismisses Claims Dickson Is Working With APC Against Obi, Kwankwaso

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has dismissed claims that its National Leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, is working with the All Progressives Congress (APC) to undermine the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party, in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, on Monday, said Dickson had no secret or open agreement with the APC and was not acting as a “front” for the ruling party.

The NDC said it would ordinarily have ignored the rumours but decided to respond because repeated claims, if left unchallenged, could eventually be accepted as fact.

“Our National Leader, Distinguished Senator Seriake Dickson, is not a front for the ruling APC or anyone else. He has no secret or open deal whatsoever with the APC regime,” the statement said.

The party said anyone familiar with Dickson’s public service record would not associate him with an arrangement to undermine his own party or its presidential ticket.

According to the NDC, Dickson could have chosen to join the APC but instead opted to remain with the opposition and contribute to building the NDC ahead of the 2027 elections.

“Senator Dickson could have taken the easy way out by joining the APC. Instead, he chose the hard, honourable path of building a party with like-minded people,” the statement added.

The NDC maintained that Dickson remained committed to the party and its presidential ticket, comprising Obi and Kwankwaso, and rejected suggestions that he was working with the APC to sabotage their candidacy.
