More than 10,000 Nigerian women have pledged to mobilise support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid across the country ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The women made their commitment in Abuja during the inauguration of the Presidential Women Campaign Council, where participants from across Nigeria gathered in support of Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking at the event, First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu thanked the women for their support, prayers and commitment to the country. She urged them to return to their respective states and communities to communicate the achievements and vision of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The First Lady said the theme of the gathering, “Renewed Hope Agenda 2.0: From Reforms to Prosperity,” reflected the administration’s stated focus on moving from economic reforms to greater prosperity for Nigerians.
She highlighted efforts by the administration to stabilise the economy, support farmers, attract investment and expand access to student loans.
According to her, Nigerian women have a critical role to play in sustaining the gains of the administration and strengthening the foundation for national development.
She therefore called on the women to take the message of the Renewed Hope Agenda to the grassroots and mobilise continued support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.
“Nigerian women have spoken. We speak with one voice, and we vote APC again,” she said.
The wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima, urged women from the six geopolitical zones to return to their communities and mobilise support for the administration ahead of the 2027 elections.
She described the election as a time to “pay back” the administration.
Also speaking, the Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, expressed confidence in the capacity of Nigerian women to drive grassroots mobilisation ahead of the elections.
Yari commended the First Lady and the women at the event for their commitment, noting that their involvement would be important to the campaign organisation.
The wife of the Senate President, Ekaette Unoma Akpabio, said women would be mobilised across various senatorial districts, while the wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hajiya Fatima Tajudeen Abbas, pledged that the mobilisation would extend to wards and polling units.
She said women would work at the grassroots to build support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.
The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, also highlighted what she described as the achievements of the Renewed Hope administration and its impact on Nigerian women.
She expressed confidence that the administration’s interventions and programmes would encourage women across the country to support Tinubu’s second-term bid.
Similarly, the APC National Women Leader, Dr Mary Alile Idele, commended Nigerian women for taking the message of hope, development and transformational leadership to communities across the 774 local government areas.
Women serving in the Renewed Hope Cabinet, including ministers, chief executive officers and senior special assistants, also expressed support for Tinubu’s re-election and pledged to contribute to the mobilisation effort.
The wives of APC governors across the country equally pledged to support grassroots mobilisation for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, saying women were ready to take the campaign to the states and the six geopolitical zones.
