Arsenal have confirmed they have reached an agreement with Turkish Super Lig club Beşiktaş for the permanent transfer of Belgian forward Leandro Trossard.
The Premier League champions announced the development in a statement on Tuesday, revealing that the 31-year-old has been granted permission to travel to Istanbul to undergo a medical and complete the final formalities of the move.
“We can confirm that we have reached an agreement with Beşiktaş for the permanent transfer of Leandro Trossard.
“With a transfer fee agreed, Leo, 31, has been granted permission to travel to Istanbul to undergo a medical and complete the formalities of his move to the Turkish Super Lig club.
“We will provide a further update once the transfer has been completed,” Arsenal said.
According to Sky Sports, the transfer is worth £17 million, comprising an initial £15.3 million and an additional £1.7 million in performance-related add-ons.
Trossard leaves the Emirates Stadium after three and a half years, having made 174 appearances and scored 36 goals across all competitions.
The Belgian international played a key role in Mikel Arteta’s squad during Arsenal’s Premier League title-winning campaign last season, contributing eight goals and 11 assists in 50 appearances. He also helped the Gunners reach the UEFA Champions League final.
One of the defining moments of his Arsenal career came on May 10 against West Ham, when his decisive goal proved vital in the club’s successful Premier League title charge.
Since joining Arsenal from Brighton & Hove Albion for £27 million in January 2023, Trossard scored 27 Premier League goals. Of those, 17 either levelled the score or put Arsenal ahead in matches, with only Bukayo Saka recording more such goals for the North London club during that period.
The transfer enables Arsenal to recover a significant portion of the fee they paid for Trossard, who had entered the final year of his contract.
His departure is also expected to prompt changes on Arsenal’s left flank, with Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers, Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola and Club Brugge forward Christos Tzolis reportedly among the players being considered as potential replacements.
