The Edo State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the welfare and empowerment of women and vulnerable groups.
The assurance came during a courtesy visit by the City Boys Movement Women’s Wing to the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.
Speaking during the visit, the group’s Edo State Women Leader, Barr. Nana Audu, said the wing is actively supporting women and youths through empowerment initiatives, outreach programmes, and advocacy.
The Zonal Women Leader for the South-South Zone, Mrs. Helen Omorodion, in her address emphasized the group’s role in promoting civic responsibility, particularly through voter education programmes conducted across the state. She noted that the movement remains committed to grassroots engagement aimed at improving participation in governance and socio-economic development.
In her response, the Edo State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Eugenia Abdallah, commended the group for its proactive efforts in empowering women and youths. She described the visit as a welcome development and an opportunity for collaboration in advancing the Ministry’s mandate.
Hon. Eugenia Abdallah reaffirmed Edo state’s dedication to creating inclusive policies and programmes that support women, children, and other vulnerable groups. She further encouraged the group to sustain its advocacy and community-based initiatives, assuring them of the Ministry’s readiness to partner with organizations that share similar goals.
The visit underscored the importance of synergy between government and civil society groups in driving sustainable development and improving the lives of citizens across Edo State.
