Igbinedion University, Okada, has announced the schedule of activities for its 23rd Convocation Ceremony, set to take place from Wednesday, 26th to Sunday, 30th November 2025.
The announcement by the Registrar, Mr. Ahola Orgeh, FCAI, MNIM, MCIA, on behalf of Council, Senate and Management, was contained in a statement from the University’s Public Relations Division.
The week-long activities will kick off on Wednesday, 26th November 2025, with a convocation play titled “The Lottery Ticket”, written by renowned playwright Ahmed Yerima.
The performance, which will be staged by students of the Theatre Arts Department, is slated for 12 p.m. at the University Arts Theatre, Main Campus, Okada.
The statement added that the programme continues on Friday, 28th November 2025, with the First Convocation Lecture to be delivered by the Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Hon. Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu.
The lecture, themed “The Nexus Between Education and National Prosperity in a Transformative Economy,” will take place at the University Library Conference Hall, Main Campus, beginning at 10 a.m. prompt.
The highlight of the ceremony comes on Saturday, 29th November 2025, with the formal conferment of First Degrees, Higher Degrees and the presentation of awards.
This session will be preceded by another convocation lecture to be delivered by Brigadier General Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu, Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
His lecture, titled “Interrogating the Potentials, Prospects and Challenges of AI as the New Order in Higher Education,” will hold at the University Main Auditorium, Main Campus, starting at 10 a.m. prompt.
The convocation activities will wrap up on Sunday, 30th November 2025, with a Thanksgiving Service at the University Chapel of Grace, Teaching Hospital Campus, starting promptly at 10 a.m. Participants can also join the service virtually via Zoom using Meeting ID: 748 491 8882 and Passcode: iuokada.
