Imo State is gearing up to host one of West Africa’s biggest economic gatherings this season, the Imo Invest Summit 2025, which will convene world leaders, top global CEOs, and international financial institutions on December 4–5 at Concorde Boulevard in Owerri.
His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, Governor of Imo State, is set to host an extraordinary gathering of global leaders and visionaries at the Imo Invest Summit 2025. The summit will feature an unmatched roster of international heavyweights, including Ban Ki-moon, former UN Secretary-General; Joseph Boakai, former President of Liberia; Boris Johnson, former British Prime Minister; and Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, former President of Mauritius, alongside renowned development experts and investors from across the globe.
Spanning two days, the summit carries the theme, “Unlocking Imo’s Economic Potential: Partnership, Investment, and Innovation,” reflecting the state’s ambition to emerge as a powerhouse in subnational development. With a focus on infrastructure, industrial growth, clean energy, agriculture, technology, and strategic public-private collaborations, Imo State is positioning itself as a beacon for investment and innovation in Nigeria and beyond.
A New Chapter for Regional Development
The Imo Invest Summit 2025 underscores growing international confidence in Imo State’s ambitious economic transformation agenda. By highlighting targeted reforms that promote ease of doing business and investor-friendly policies, the summit demonstrates how subnational governments can become catalysts for national growth while attracting global capital.
“This is more than an economic summit; it is a blueprint for how African states can compete on the global stage,” said His Excellency, Governor Hope Uzodimma. “We are presenting bankable projects, concrete reforms, and real opportunities for partners who want to be part of Africa’s next growth frontier.”
Investment-Ready Sectors on Display
The summit will put the spotlight on transformative projects and investment opportunities across Imo State’s most promising sectors. A centerpiece is the Orashi Special Energy Zone, a flagship initiative that underscores Nigeria’s gas-to-industry strategy while advancing the state’s commitment to renewable energy solutions.
Additional focus areas include industrialization through Special Economic Zones, solid minerals, agriculture and agro-processing, digital infrastructure and technology, tourism and the creative economy, as well as large-scale infrastructure financing facilitated through strategic public-private partnerships.
High-Level Programme
The first day of the summit will open with a keynote address by Ban Ki-moon on attracting global capital to African subnational economies, followed by a fireside chat with Prof. Benedict Oramah on the role of Special Economic Zones and industrial parks. Panel discussions will focus on critical themes such as infrastructure financing, energy access, and logistics development.
Day two will feature a keynote on youth, technology, and Africa’s economic future, alongside sessions exploring agro-industrialization, digital transformation, and tourism as drivers of economic growth. The programme also includes business matchmaking sessions, a solid minerals roundtable, an SME Pitchathon, investment showcases, and closed-door engagements with government officials, regulators, and development finance institutions.
National and international media are invited to register for accreditation to cover this landmark event. Accredited journalists will gain full access to keynote sessions, exclusive interviews with global leaders and industry experts, early briefings on major deals and policy announcements, as well as on-site support to ensure comprehensive coverage.
