Police Crack Drug Trafficking Network in Katsina, Recover 2,000 Diazepam Tablets

The Katsina State Police Command has intensified its fight against illicit drug trafficking with the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of 2,000 tablets of suspected Diazepam during an operation in Funtua Local Government Area.

The breakthrough came after operatives attached to the Central Police Station (CPS), Funtua, intercepted 27-year-old Jibrin Salisu during a routine anti-crime patrol on June 15, 2026. Police officers reportedly searched the suspect after stopping him on a motorcycle and discovered two sachets containing the suspected illicit drugs.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, Salisu confessed during interrogation that he had obtained the drugs from a 26-year-old woman, Faith Eze, and was transporting them to another accomplice identified as “Gurgu,” who is currently at large.

Acting swiftly on the information, police operatives launched a follow-up operation that led to the arrest of Eze, who also allegedly admitted her involvement in the illegal drug business.

The command said investigations are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspect and dismantle the wider criminal network behind the operation.

Reacting to the arrests, the Commissioner of Police, Ali Umar Fage, reaffirmed the command’s zero-tolerance stance on drug trafficking and substance abuse. He warned individuals involved in the sale, distribution and movement of illicit drugs to abandon the trade or face the full weight of the law.

The latest operation underscores the police command’s renewed determination to combat drug-related crimes and protect communities from the dangers associated with substance abuse and trafficking.
