Controversial Nigerian singer, Portable, has challenged fellow artiste Terry G to a celebrity boxing match, saying he wants the veteran musician as his next opponent and believes the bout would revive his career.
Portable made the declaration during an interview on Channels Television’s Rubbin’ Minds on Sunday.
When asked which celebrity he would like to face next in the boxing ring, the singer did not hesitate to name Terry G.
“Me, I want to fight Terry G,” he said.
The interviewer asked whether he was referring to social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), but Portable insisted that Terry G remained his preferred opponent.
“It is Terry G that I want to fight. I wan blow am. I want to resurrect his career. If Terry G fights me one-on-one in boxing, I swear to God, he will rise again. People will remember him again,” Portable said.
His comments have since generated reactions on social media, with fans expressing surprise over the challenge.
Portable has become a familiar face in celebrity boxing, having previously stepped into the ring against actor Charles Okocha, singer Speed Darlington and skit maker Carter Efe.
Terry G, widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s biggest street music stars, rose to prominence in the late 2000s with hit songs including Free Madness, Akpako and Run Mad.
