The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Senator Olamilekan Adeola Yayi, has pledged to review teachers’ salaries, improve their working conditions and establish training centres across the state if elected governor.
Yayi made the pledge in his message to mark the 2026 World Teachers’ Day, commending teachers across Ogun for their contributions to education and human capital development.
The APC candidate said he would establish teacher training centres in each of the state’s three senatorial districts to enable teachers to update their skills, strengthen their professional capacity and improve their effectiveness in the classroom.
He said better welfare, professional development and conducive working conditions were essential to strengthening the teaching profession and improving learning outcomes in Ogun State.
“Teachers play a critical role in shaping the future of our children and, by extension, the future of Ogun State. Their commitment, patience and dedication deserve recognition and support,” Yayi said.
He added that his administration would improve teacher welfare by reviewing salaries, providing better working conditions and ensuring timely payment.
“On this World Teachers’ Day, I celebrate our teachers and reaffirm my commitment to promoting better welfare, improved working conditions and opportunities for professional growth,” he said.
Yayi said the proposed measures were contained in his manifesto and were designed to create an enabling environment for teachers to perform effectively.
He added that sustained investment in teachers would strengthen Ogun State’s education system and contribute to improved learning outcomes for students.
