Crystal Palace Hit Back to Sink Forest 3-1 and Spoil Glasner’s Return

Crystal Palace produced a spirited comeback to defeat Nottingham Forest 3-1, spoiling Oliver Glasner’s return to Selhurst Park after the former Palace manager took charge of the visitors.

Forest made a dream start, taking the lead just three minutes into the encounter through Dan Ndoye, putting Palace under early pressure.

However, Palace gradually grew into the game and found an equaliser four minutes before half-time when Daichi Kamada scored his first Premier League goal for the club.

The hosts carried their momentum into the closing stages of the first half, with Jefferson Lerma heading home in stoppage time to put Palace ahead.

Yeremy Pino then extended Palace’s advantage in the second half, completing the comeback and securing a convincing 3-1 victory.

Palace goalkeeper Walter Benítez played an important role in the win, making crucial saves to deny Liam Delap and Chris Wood. Forest also came close to scoring when Morgan Gibbs-White struck the crossbar.

There was controversy surrounding Lerma’s goal, with questions raised over a possible handball involving Anan Khalaili in the build-up.

The result marked Palace’s second victory of the season and their 12th win, while Forest were left disappointed after failing to protect their early lead.

The match also carried added significance for Glasner, who returned to Selhurst Park after leaving Palace at the end of the previous season. During his time at the club, he guided the Eagles to FA Cup success and a Conference League campaign before taking up the Nottingham Forest job in the summer.

His return ended in disappointment as Palace fought back from behind to claim all three points.
