The Osun State Coordinating Office of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) recently received the Chief Executive Officer and President of Cranet Global, United Kingdom, Dr. Yemi Odetola, on a courtesy visit focused on strengthening collaboration and exploring potential investment opportunities within the state.
Welcoming the visitor, the Osun State Coordinator of RMRDC, Mr. Adeyemi Saheed A., expressed appreciation for Dr. Odetola’s interest in the Council’s activities and explained the Council’s mandate in advancing raw materials development, value addition, and industrial growth. He noted that prospective investors stand to benefit from RMRDC’s research support, data resources, and technical guidance, especially within the agricultural and agro-processing sectors.
In his remarks, Dr. Odetola thanked the Osun-RMRDC State Coordinating Office for the warm reception accorded him. He explained that his interest in the Council was sparked after following the Osun-RMRDC Investors’ Forum live on Facebook and Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) network news, which provided him with deeper insight into the Council’s initiatives and investment-friendly programmes. According to him, this prompted his decision to visit the office personally upon his arrival in Nigeria to obtain first-hand information about the Council’s operations.
Dr. Odetola, a technology consultancy expert based in the United Kingdom, disclosed that while his core professional focus remains technology and innovation services, he has deliberately chosen to return to Nigeria to invest in agriculture. He revealed that he has acquired 50 hectares of land in Osun State for agricultural purposes and expressed his desire to partner with RMRDC to ensure value addition, sustainability and industrial relevance of his investment.
He emphasized that agriculture, when properly supported with research, technology and value-chain development, remains a key driver of economic growth and job creation. He therefore expressed optimism about working closely with RMRDC to achieve mutual objectives.
The visit concluded on a positive note, with assurances of sustained engagement and collaboration. The Osun State Coordinator informed Dr. Odetola that the 2026 RMRDC Investors’ Forum would build on the successes of previous editions and deliver greater benefits to residents and investors in the state, while also assuring him of an invitation to the Africa Raw Materials Summit 2026 once arrangements are finalized.
Overall, the visit marked an important milestone in strengthening ties between international investors and the Raw Materials Research and Development Council, as both parties work toward advancing agricultural development and improving raw materials utilization in Osun State.
