Brazil midfielder Casemiro etched his name into the country’s FIFA World Cup history on Monday after becoming Brazil’s second-oldest goalscorer at the tournament.
The former Manchester United and Real Madrid star reached the milestone after scoring in the 56th minute of Brazil’s 2-1 victory over Japan in their Round of 32 clash at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The win secured Brazil’s place in the Round of 16 as they continued their quest for a record-extending sixth World Cup title.
At 34 years and 126 days old, Casemiro is now the second-oldest Brazilian player to score at a FIFA World Cup, trailing only Bebeto.
Bebeto set the record on July 3, 1998, when he scored against Denmark at the age of 34 years and 137 days, a record that still stands.
