‘You Save the Best for Last’ — Wizkid Rekindles Supremacy Battle With Burna Boy

Grammy-winning Nigerian music star Wizkid has reignited the long-running supremacy debate with fellow Grammy winner Burna Boy after declaring that he was the closing act at the Afronation Festival in Portugal because he is “the best.”

The comment came amid growing discussions among fans over the performance lineup at the annual music festival.

Before Wizkid’s appearance on the final day, Burna Boy’s supporters had celebrated his role as the opening-day headliner, arguing that the organisers gave him the prime slot because of his global appeal and star power ahead of Wizkid and other artistes on the lineup.

Appearing to respond to the online debate during his performance on Sunday, the Starboy boss told the cheering crowd:

“Big Wiz is here. This is why you save the best for the last, baby.”

The statement quickly went viral on social media, with many fans interpreting it as a direct response to the ongoing comparison between the two Afrobeats superstars over who deserved the more prestigious performance slot.

The latest exchange has further fueled the rivalry between Wizkid and Burna Boy, whose relationship has remained strained in recent months.

The pair fell out after Burna Boy reportedly confronted DJ Tunez, Wizkid’s official disc jockey, during an incident at a nightclub in Lagos, a development that intensified speculation about tensions between the two music heavyweights.

As fans continue to debate the meaning behind Wizkid’s remark, the latest episode has once again reignited conversations about the supremacy battle between two of Africa’s biggest music stars.
