Nigeria’s Falconets produced a stunning attacking display on Sunday, thrashing New Caledonia 10-1 to book their place in the Round of 16 of the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
The emphatic victory in their final Group F fixture saw the Falconets finish second in the group with four points from three matches, behind leaders Spain, who secured nine points from their three games.
Moses Aduku’s side dominated the contest from start to finish, with Ramotalahi Kareem and Onajite David leading the rout with hat-tricks.
Rebecca Adegbemile added two goals, while Janet Seimeyeha Akekoromowei and Tosin Rafiu completed Nigeria’s remarkable 10-goal haul.
New Caledonia managed a consolation goal through Joceline Kourevi, but it did little to halt the Falconets’ commanding performance.
The victory not only secured Nigeria’s progression to the knockout stage but also provided a major confidence boost as the Falconets prepare for their Round of 16 challenge.
After three group matches, Spain topped Group F with nine points, while Nigeria advanced in second place with four points.
The Falconets will now turn their attention to the knockout stage, where they will look to build on their emphatic performance and continue their pursuit of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup title.
