Bendel Insurance Roar Back With 4–2 Win Over Kun Khalifat as Enabulele Hails Benin Titans

Bendel Insurance FC bounced back in emphatic fashion on Sunday, thrashing Kun Khalifat FC 4–2 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City to strengthen their position near the top of the 2026/27 NPFL table.

The Benin Arsenal wasted little time asserting their dominance, taking the lead in the fifth minute when Alex Oweiyalefa headed home to put the hosts ahead.

Insurance doubled their advantage in the 19th minute through Suraju Lawal, giving the home side a commanding 2–0 lead before the interval.

The Benin Arsenal resumed the second half with the same attacking intensity, with Chinedu Nwosu striking just a minute after the restart to make it 3–0 in the 46th minute.

Kun Khalifat missed an opportunity to reduce the deficit from the penalty spot before eventually converting another spot kick to pull a goal back.

Insurance, however, refused to allow the visitors back into the contest.

Nwosu completed his brace in the 66th minute to restore the hosts’ three-goal advantage and send the home supporters into wild celebrations.

Kun Khalifat scored a late second goal, but Bendel Insurance held firm to secure a convincing 4–2 victory.

The result represented a strong response from the Benin Arsenal after their previous defeat to Nasarawa United in Lafia.

Reacting to the victory through his Media Aide, Edoko Wilson Edoko, Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, described the performance as a “powerful statement of intent.”

Enabulele commended the club’s management, technical crew led by Coach Kennedy Boboye, and the players for their determination, resilience and attacking quality.

He particularly praised Oweiyalefa, Lawal and Nwosu for their goals and contribution to the emphatic victory.

According to him, the performance demonstrated the growing confidence within the squad and reflected the renewed ambition to restore Bendel Insurance to its rightful position among the leading clubs in Nigerian football.

“The Benin Insurance FC are roaring again,” Enabulele declared, urging the players to keep the winning fire burning while maintaining focus, discipline and consistency throughout the long NPFL season.

He also appealed to supporters to continue backing the team, particularly by turning out for home matches and providing the atmosphere needed to drive the players forward.

Following the victory, Bendel Insurance moved to third position on the NPFL table with six points from three matches, behind leaders Doma United and Barau FC.

The Benin Arsenal will now look to build on the convincing victory as they continue their 2026/27 NPFL campaign.
