Egypt has secured its place as the first team to qualify for the Round of 16 in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The qualification comes on the back of a narrow 1-0 victory over South Africa in a Group A match on Friday evening. The Pharaohs had kicked off their campaign with a 2-1 win against Zimbabwe.
Against the Bafana Bafana, Egypt scored the only goal of the encounter in the first half, after Mohamed Salah converted from the penalty spot.
And although they finished the half with 10 men after Mohamed Hany was shown a red card, the North Africans held on for all three points.
Egypt will now face Angola in their final group match, while South Africa will go up against Zimbabwe.
