AFCON 2025: How Cameroon Joined Morocco, Mali, Senegal in Quarter-Finals

 

Cameroon have secured a spot in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), joining fellow heavyweights Morocco, Mali and Senegal in the last eight of the tournament.

The Indomitable Lions sealed their passage on Sunday night in Rabat after edging South Africa 2-1 in a closely contested Round of 16 encounter.

Cameroon seized control in the 34th minute when Junior Tchamadeu opened the scoring, reflecting their early dominance.

The five-time African champions came out strong after halftime, and just two minutes into the second half, Christian Kofane calmly doubled their lead, putting Cameroon in a commanding position.
