The Kaduna State High Court on Tuesday adjourned ruling on the bail application of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai to the first week of June 2026.
Justice Darius Khobo fixed the date after taking arguments from both the prosecution and defence in the case, in which the former governor is facing multiple charges bordering on alleged financial crimes and abuse of office filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
Ukpon Akpan,counsel to the former governor,speaking after the court session faulted the repeated adjournment of the bail hearing, describing it as “politically motivated.”
El-Rufai was in court on Tuesday, arriving around 9 a.m. in a convoy accompanied by operatives of the ICPC and the Department of State Services, while security agencies restricted movement within the court premises.
Supporters of the former governor also gathered outside the courtroom as proceedings were held under tight security.
