The Federal Government has ordered a ban on the admission and transfer of students into Senior Secondary School Three (SS3) in both public and private schools nationwide, citing growing concerns over examination malpractice, including the use of unauthorised centres during national examinations, which have undermined the credibility of Nigeria’s education system.
The Federal Ministry of Education stated that the policy will take effect in the 2026/27 academic year.
From that time, admissions and transfers will only be allowed for Senior Secondary School One (SS1) and Senior Secondary School Two (SS2).

Officials explained that the measure aims to prevent last-minute student movements intended to gain unfair advantages in exams.

School owners, principals, and administrators have been instructed to follow the new rules, with violations attracting penalties according to existing education regulations.
The Ministry of Education emphasized the government’s dedication to upholding academic standards, ensuring fairness, and restoring public confidence in the nation’s examinations.
