INEC Warns Nigerians Against Fake Online Voter Registration Portal

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has warned Nigerians against a fraudulent website claiming that the nationwide online voter registration exercise is currently ongoing.

In a public notice issued on Saturday, the commission identified pvc-inecnigeria-org.blogspot.com as a fake platform falsely announcing a new voter registration window from September 28 to October 27, 2026.

INEC clarified that the nationwide voter registration exercise closed on July 26, 2026, stressing that any information suggesting that a new online registration exercise is currently ongoing through the website is false.

The fraudulent platform reportedly advertises a fake “Final Phase of Nationwide Online Voter Card Registration”, offering purported services including updating voter details, transferring polling units and replacing lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

The website also falsely claims that voter registration and PVC delivery are free.

INEC urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and verify electoral information through the commission’s official communication channels to avoid falling victim to fraudulent platforms and cyber scams.

The commission advised citizens to disregard information from unauthorised websites and rely only on its verified channels for updates on voter registration and other electoral activities.
