Edo Queens bounced back from their opening-day disappointment with a commanding 4-1 victory over FC Robo in their second match of the 2026 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership Super Six in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

After suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Nasarawa Amazons in their first game, the Benin-based side entered the encounter determined to keep their title ambitions alive and delivered an impressive response.

Esther Moses gave Edo Queens the lead in the 15th minute before Chioma Moses doubled the advantage in the 32nd minute, ensuring the former champions headed into the break with a comfortable cushion.

The second half saw Edo Queens maintain their dominance. Although Oscar Precious narrowly missed an early opportunity, she eventually found the back of the net in the 60th minute to make it 3-0. Four minutes later, Mary Mamudu added the fourth goal to cap a brilliant attacking display.

FC Robo managed a late consolation through Nkeocha Favour in the 86th minute, but it did little to alter the outcome as Edo Queens cruised to a convincing win.

Reacting to the result, the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Desmond Enabulele, praised the team for showing resilience and character after their opening setback.

He described the performance as a strong statement of intent from the former league champions, noting that the victory had reignited their pursuit of NWFL Super Six glory.

“I am delighted with the outstanding performance of Edo Queens against FC Robo Queens. This is the kind of response expected from a team with the pedigree and winning culture of Edo Queens.

“The players showed determination, discipline, and hunger throughout the game, and they deserve commendation for making Edo State proud,” Enabulele said.

According to him, the result reflects the quality, depth, and fighting spirit that have consistently made Edo Queens one of the leading teams in women’s football in Nigeria.

“This victory is more than just three points; it is a strong statement to other contenders that Edo Queens remain a force to be reckoned with. The players and technical crew have demonstrated the mentality required to compete at the highest level and challenge for the title,” he added.

Enabulele also commended the coaching crew led by Coach Moses Aduku for their tactical discipline and commitment, which helped the team respond positively and return to winning ways in the competition.
