Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Friday paid his first visit to the Presidential Villa since President Bola Tinubu assumed office.
Obasanjo, a frequent critic of the Tinubu administration, had previously never visited the Presidential Villa, even when invited to key events such as Council of State meetings.
The former president attended the Presidential Villa as a guest of First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, who hosted the 2025 Service of Nine Lessons and Carols themed “Emmanuel: God With Us.”
According to a statement from the First Lady’s media office, Obasanjo read the Second Lesson from Genesis 22:15-18, highlighting God’s covenant of blessing through obedience. Former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, also in attendance, read the First Lesson from Genesis 3:8-12, reflecting on humanity’s early encounter with divine accountability.
