Oyedepo Declares He Won’t Enter Politics Even for $1 Billion

Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has stated that he will never engage in politics, even if offered $1 billion.

Speaking at the church’s annual Shiloh gathering, the 71-year-old cleric urged members to remain steadfast in their “divine assignments.” He stated, “Partisan politics is off my calling. If you give me $1 billion to join politics, I won’t, because it’s off my course.” Oyedepo encouraged members to make an impact and lead in their spheres as part of “God’s end-time Army.”

“The world is groaning in darkness, but as stated in Romans 8:19, it is waiting for the earnest manifestations of the children of God,” Oyedepo said. “The army of God is about to emerge to offer solutions to national crises in the order of Joseph and Daniel. It is the day of what eyes have not seen or ears heard.”

This is not the first time Oyedepo has expressed his disinterest in holding a political position.

At a 2022 leadership summit, Oyedepo described the idea of becoming Nigeria’s president as a demotion, reaffirming his commitment to his pastoral calling. He said, “I believe in Nigeria and that’s why I am still here, and still praying for Nigeria. But I consider it a demotion if I am invited to become the president of Nigeria. I am called for a global impact. I saw this in 1984. Even the devil knows that you can’t be genuinely sold out to serving God and not stand out in life. Since 1976, I have never missed a change of story. I was 19 years old when I prayed to God not to let me leave a village the way I met it. So I was 19 when I encountered destiny. I have not been tired going out for God since 1976.”
