‘Only a Few Nigerian Artists Are Not Cultists,’ Naira Marley Claims

Rapper and singer Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, has raised concerns over what he described as the growing menace of cultism within the Nigerian music industry.

Speaking on the issue, Marley lamented the negative trend, claiming that only a few Nigerian artists — including himself — have not been involved in cult-related activities.

He further mocked artists who, according to him, joined cults in search of power and protection, noting that even those who allegedly influenced them to take that path still rely on police escorts for security.

On his X handle, the rapper wrote, “We no reach 5 weh never join cult for this [music] industry. Person weh put u for cult self dey carry police escort up and down.”

Meanwhile, Naira Marley has previously dismissed rumours linking him to cultism, revealing that he was instead threatened by cult members in the past for refusing to join them.
