Operatives of the Nigeria Police have arrested the self-acclaimed Director-General of the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, in Osun State.
The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Iniedu, confirmed the arrest on Tuesday, saying the suspect was apprehended without incident by operatives of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) and has been taken into police custody for further interrogation.
Iniedu said Adeyemi had been the subject of an intensive manhunt by security agencies and was arrested following intelligence-led operations conducted weeks after investigations into the activities of the purported federal agency.
According to him, the arrest came after days of coordinated efforts by security operatives, who had earlier raided the suspect’s family residence while tracking his whereabouts.
Reports indicated that investigators questioned members of his family during the operation.
Adeyemi’s arrest came shortly after Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja issued a warrant for his arrest following his failure to appear in court.
The suspect was scheduled to take his plea on an eight-count charge marked FHC/ABJ/CR/562/2025, bordering on alleged forgery, fraud and impersonation.
Although the matter was listed as No. 12 on the court’s cause list, Adeyemi failed to appear for his arraignment, despite a lawyer, Mr. Genesis Francis, announcing his appearance.
He is also facing allegations of certificate forgery after failing to appear before the court for his scheduled arraignment on Tuesday.
The police said investigations are ongoing, while the suspect remains in custody pending further interrogation and prosecution.
